Blue Jay Hostel, Rishikesh - If you want to begin the journey of Solo-travelling, begin here.
Nestled amid the holy crowd of the Rishikesh and a few steps away from the Ganges lies one of the most prominent hostels in Rishikesh, Blue Jay.
I visited and stayed in this hostel a few months ago, and I was nothing short of impressed as it was a solo traveller's paradise. Ranging from safety and cleanliness to being located in the centre of the action, Blue Jay is nothing short of a prodigy when it comes to stays!
1. 800 metres away from the famous 'Laxman Jhula' and the most accessible access to major tourist attractions, medical facilities and supermarkets. Trust me, no wild elephants on your path! It's a safe location.
2. The rooftop cafe is going to DRIVE YOUR CRAZY. It has one of the best meals/snacks you can have. Tip: Try the Chilly garlic Noodles and the Aloo Parantha. It's like experiencing nectar.
3. The room is cleaned two to three times a day. Trust me, this is paranormal for anyone who has experience in staying at hostels! Cleanness is a big deal for me, and the Blue jays excel in this aspect.
4. The cool and casual lounge room/common room lets you meet other like-minded travellers and connect with them! Solo travel is scarily solo since you meet and create magical relationships with people worldwide in such common rooms.
5. Great for "workations". Are you tired of working from home and want to stay in a hostel? Well, Blue jay was made FOR YOU. As a person who works from different locations, I loved the experience at Blue Jays since it was peaceful and had all the accessories I needed at one arm's distance, such as food, water, WIFI etc. I also met like-minded people and those from my field who taught me quite a bit, things I would NEVER learn from home!
6. Price is surprisingly inexpensive. You know some things are too good for the price that is offered? This is one of them. The price of Rs 600 per night for a mixed dorm and Rs 1000 for a private room (There are several other options, do check out the price on Booking.com, Goibibo etc.) is perfect, isn't it?
P.S. I know it sounds too cheap, and there's a notion in your head that what costs less generally compromises its quality. Still, I have visited this hostel for quite some time, and that's not true in this case.
Go have a stay! I’m sure you’ll be more than just impressed!
