Vashishta Gufa (Cave): The Failed Suicide Attempt (Part 2)

As I explored the Vasishta Gufa, I felt as though I were walking through a portal to another world, a place where time stood still and the stresses and worries of the modern world were forgotten. The myths surrounding this arena were quite a lot, some call it "The Mystical Vasishta Gufa: A Journey Through Time"

The sense of peace and serenity that I experienced in the Vasishta Gufa was truly unparalleled. The strangeness of this space was that I could touch silence.

"What do you mean you touched silence?" my fluttering mind asked me.

I don't know.

I wonder if the intangibility of things might turn tangible in certain conditions, such as the love that a lover experiences.

They say that love is not restricted to a feeling, but is now all over the lover, engulfing them. The intangible has now become tangible in their experience.

A Story Untold, Yet Felt: The Spiritual Significance of Vasishta Gufa

They say that a man experiences the despair of his own nature in two circumstances: the first is if he fails to accomplish what he was born to achieve, and the second is losing his progeny.

Sage Vashishta was one of the most advanced Rishi's known to man. He was a direct disciple of Shiva, the Master of Nothingness, and what the ancient texts call "A Pancha Bhuta," meaning, he was a master of the 5 elements: Fire, water, air, earth, and Ether.

Losing his children was a cross that he could not bear, and in a frantic whirlpool of sorrow, he decided to give up his life by submerging himself within the lap of the Ganges.

However, such men are everything but impossible to find, and so nature intervenes in the decisions made by the minds of such saints. As he decided to step into the cold, skin-whitening waters of the Ganga, for some reason, she refused to let him in.

"Oh, Sage!" she cried. "A trikalagnani is not only rare but a miracle of consciousness. Few are blessed to perceive the Past, Present and Future of everything. You cannot be allowed to waste the gift of this consciousness." Saying this, he was destined to meditate upon that very spot for over 100 years along with his wife, Arundhati.
